GARA BRIDGE CAMPSITE
Gara Bridge Campsite is run by Paddy and Jenny. We are originally from Scotland and have two young children. We are very lucky to enjoy the magic of Gara Bridge and would love for you to enjoy it too.
We have slowly added to the campsite to make it as welcoming as possible - so kick back, make yourself at home... we are on hand at any time to help you enjoy your stay (we can also leave you in peace!).

WHAT WE OFFER
A Convenient Option
An easy, chilled, central base to explore the stunning scenery of the South Hams, South Devon.
A level 1-acre grass field set in a secluded, sheltered area
Pitch up with or without electricity. There are 5 electric hook ups, a chemical waste disposal point and drinking water on site. New toilets and showers for 2024.
A 4-acre paddock to freely enjoy
This adjoining paddock is for the sole use of our campsite guests - it follows the river upstream and gives direct access to some great walks. Makes a perfect place for dog walking, picnics, ball games...
The Campsite Den
Entirely for the campsite's use. Take advantage of our small but fabulous indoor barn where you can make yourself at home (this has everything but the kitchen sink!). Here you will find a fridge, freezer, kettle, deckchairs, indoor games, toys, books, guides, maps and other things for you to use and enjoy during your stay. You can hang out here whatever the weather!

Free fly fishing on the river Avon
Guests are very welcome to enjoy free brown trout fishing on the river where automatic permission is granted all along our banks. Sea trout have been spotted as well as salmon...
Newhouse Fishery is 2 minutes up the road and has 1, 2 and 3 acre stream fed, clear water lakes. It is one of the best fisheries for rainbow trout in the South West.
Bits n bobs just for you
We love the campsite and its rustic simplicity. We want to share what we enjoy so there are picnic areas, seating, outdoor games/toy box, sandpit, mud kitchen and a small herb garden for your use, and even some bird food for you to feed the birds here at Gara Bridge.
Nature spotting
Bat detectors, binoculars... an easy challenge for you here is to spot all the wildlife that love to visit... grab a chair and see what we mean! We have lots of beautiful birds... a regular kingfisher... and even the greater horsehoe bat...
A rural retreat and an ideal base to explore
Within a 15-20 minute drive you can be in the characterful and picturesque towns of Totnes, Dartmouth and Kingsbridge - all very different and have a fantastic range of shops, supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, pubs, attractions and great local produce.
Our location means that you are also able to quickly acess the coastline and South West Coast Path whatever direction. The beautiful award-winning sandy beaches of Bigbury and Bantham, the 'almost Mediterranean' feeling of Blackpool Sands, and the striking coastline as you continue to Torcross are all easily reached within 25 minutes, as are the lovely coastal villages (and beaches) of Salcombe, Hope Cove, South Milton Sands, Thurlestone... all of which are worth a visit!
Alternatively, you can quickly head into the stunning landscape of Dartmoor National Park and enjoy all kinds of leisure activities such as breath taking walks, pony treks, climbing and cycling.
For those of you who like theme parks, we are a 5 minute drive from Woodland's Family Theme Park. It is Devon's largest theme park with sixty acreas of rides and activities for all ages, and a zoo farm.

Great Walks & Trails
If you want a break from driving, you can walk straight out of our campsite to some beautiful river or country walks.
One of which takes you to the remains of a preshistoric hill fort at Blackdown Rings. Blackdown Rings sits on the hill west of the River Avon and provides sone of the best panoramic views of the South Hams - It's worth the trip!
The special ancient woods of the Avon Valley are also very close by, and provide a fantastic network of forest tracks to discover.
There are some lovely nearby bike trails to explore too.
You can of course, always enjoy the peace here and relax by the river, hang out with nature or go for a paddle!
